Helicopter Parents
So can anyone explain to me the need for some parents to be " helicopter parents " and for those that know what I'm talking about I applaud you for not doing this to your children. And for those that don't know what I'm talking about..... let me explain. A " helicopter parent " is a parent that has to hover around there child and try and protect them from the "outside" world when in all actuality they are going to cause them more damage than any amount of therapy can fix. Let me explain this point for those still thinking that I and/or we are bad parents. By not allowing your child to experience life you are going to cause them to be whinny anti-social little wallflowers in there young age and as they grow older they will be the children living in your basement with nine cats and a fast computer. They also will have no relationship or bond with any family members because of there parents control issues and total lack of confidence in there own parents abilities to take care of a child even though if your reading this you obviously survived your childhood and have at least learned to read. I have come to the realization that you can not be a good parent and not let your children grow and experience things with and without you by there side. I am certain that your children will survive a trip to grandmas house a trip to day care and even a ride on the school bus to school and they will return home to you with just as much love and admiration for you as when they left on there "little journey". So the moral of this little rant is cut the fucking umbilical cord and do you kids a favor in the long run it will make them strong independent people and keep you from blogging about the smell of cat shit wafting from your basement fifteen years from now and it will save you the headache of having to set them up an eharmony profile to get them outta your house.
